1970's Cadillacs

The Cadillac through the 1970's changed from the beginning of the decade through to the end as consumers were worried about gasoline prices.

1970 CADILLAC: INTRO TO THE NEW ERA
The seventies was a new era when it came to the Cadillac. New models and more choices and the new limousine came to be starting with the 1970 Cadillac.

1971 CADILLAC…THE BIG INDULGENCE
The Cadillac got bigger in 1971 and the car owners didn't mind at all. It was also the first time the Cadillac only offered one convertible for its line of luxury cars.

THE 1972 CADILLAC: SEVENTY YEARS AS THE WORLD’S STANDARD
Sales were booming in 1972 as the Cadillac was celebrating it's 70'th anniversary. With over four million cars on the road you can say they had some success in the auto industry.

1973 CADILLAC…5 MILLION AND GOING STRONG
Over five million cars on the road and the 1973 Cadillac was still hitting milestones when it comes to performance. It is also the year they started making the Cadillac seventy five model.

1974 CADILLAC…GAS CRUNCH CAUSES CHANGES
There were many changes to the Cadillac in 1974 as the price of gas started to become a concern in the USA. This was also the year that Cadillac started putting in airbags as safety concerns were also rising.

1975 CADILLAC HISTORY… “Introducing the Seville”
1975 saw Cadillac reintroduce the Seville to its loyal fans. They also improved gas mileage as the country was facing a gasoline shortage. The average price of the Cadillac also went up slightly.

THE 1976 CADILLAC…DOWNSIZING THE LUXURY RIDE
Once again with the gas shortage Cadillac was forced to make some changes to its line of luxury cars. 1976 was a tough year for all automakers except the ones that had great gas mileage that were imported from Europe.

1977 CADILLAC… CHANGES WERE IN THE AIR
In 1977 Cadillac made a few more changes to their popular models as the Calais ended its run of production. This was also the first year that Cadillac used the 429 engine.

1978 CADILLAC…THE YEAR OF THE COMPUTERIZED CAR
Starting the high tech revolution in 1978 Cadillac started to get computerized and every owner really liked this move into the future. It also marked the first time that you could get a diesel engine in your Cadillac.

1979 CADILLAC HISTORY - CHANGES IN THE EL DORADO
As the seventies came to a close Cadillac made some changes to its El Dorado. Its weight, It's length, and a wider interior it was a real crowd pleaser to fans of every Cadillac owner worldwide.
