2007 Cadillac Escalade
Features
What To Look For In The
New Escalade
If there ever was a vehicle that stood for
excess, the Cadillac Escalade would rank right up at the top. There is
nothing understated about the Escalade and for 2007 an all new version of
Cadillac’s largest SUV has been released.
Don’t think for a moment that high gas prices or steep price will keep the
Escalade down. This is not some ordinary vehicle for the masses and that is
one reason why Cadillac chose Hollywood as its venue for introducing the new
model.
The 2007 Escalade sits on the GMT900 platform that now powers all full size
trucks and SUVs marketed by General Motors. The Escalade features a brawny
6.2L Vortec V8 that has been paired with a six speed automatic transmission.
No, you won’t get amazing fuel mileage with this car and GM’s famous Active
Fuel Management {AFM} system won’t show up until 2008. AFM was formerly
called “displacement on demand” and it is the system that shuts down
unneeded cylinders to increase overall fuel mileage by about 6 to 8 percent.
Yes, if it is horsepower you want the Escalade will not disappoint as it
produces 403 horses along with 417 lb. ft of torque. With all of this,
Cadillac is boasting “best in class” fuel economy for an SUV of its size.
The Escalade was introduced as a 1999 model and it quickly became the
vehicle of choice for the hip-hop crowd, celebrities, and sports stars.
Commonly known as the “king of bling” the Escalade is often compared to
pimpmobile Caddy's of the 1970s: big, ostentatious, and very fast.
Whether you choose to pimp your ride or simply enjoy its many features, the
Escalade will probably be everything you need in a luxury SUV. Brushed
aluminum, supple leather, along with chrome and burled trim dominate the
cabin. Seating is for eight passengers with each row offering passengers
plenty of legroom and places to put things.
Safety features abound with the new Escalade including anti-lock brakes,
StabiliTrak stability control, and side airbags for all three seats. Another
sensor will activate the front seat belts to increase tension to help front
seat passengers avoid whiplash.
