Got a nice email from Lucille and her husband Rory and I would like everyone to welcome them to the club.
Hi,
My husband Rory & I have been Cadillac lovers since the first time we met in 1971. He was driving a White with black leather top, 1969 Fleetwood Brougham with beautiful black brocade seats. We fell in love in that car. We kept that car until it was stolen in 1975. We lived in NYC at the time, and immediately went to the Cadillac Dealer in the city and purchased a 1973 Cadillac Eldorado. It was the most beautiful car. It was white, with a really padded red cabriolet top and beautiful red leather seats.
We drove everywhere in these cars. This new one usually made quite a spectacle at the drive in movie in Long Island. We typically watched the movies from the first row. The nose of this car sat so far into the air it looked like a rocket. In 1976 We purchased a 1976 Sedan de Ville. It was a beautiful aqua with a white leather top and white leather seats. This was the car we owned when we moved to Georgia. As you could imagine, we could only get this car in our two car garage. At least we weren’t driving around for hours looking for a parking spot.
I loved this car so much, and drove it everywhere, but after putting almost 200,000 miles on it we had to let her go. We replaced her with a 1990 Sedan de Ville. It was champagne with a shale leather interior. When the time came for our next car we bought a 1996 Sedan de Ville in Serengeti green, with shale leather seats. It was a truly beautiful car, and a really nice color. Once again, in 2000 we decided to buy another wonderful Cadillac. So we bought a 2000 DHS. It was Diamond white, with white leather interior. This car had so many amazing things in it that our previous cars did not have. It was truly luxurious.
In 2006 we purchased a DTS in an amazing Midnight Blue with a shale leather interior. We also added a special grill that gave this car such a sleek look. We have driven that car everywhere. in 2013 my husband decided to buy himself a retirement present. He bought a 2013 XTS in Diamond White, with shale leather interior. It is the Platinum model, and is very beautiful. At the end of 2014 he decided it was time to trade in our 2006 DTS.
Since this was going to be my car, I decided on the 2015 Platinum SRX, Platinum Ice Tri-coat, with titanium leather seats. Its a beautiful car, lots of room, not quite as much as our older cars, but I do love it. In 2014, my husband joined the National Cadillac LaSalle Club and the Peach State Chapter of the CLC here in Atlanta. We searched for a long time to find our first classic car, and in Arizona, we found a 1978 Eldorado Biarritz in Carmine Red, with a beautiful red leather interior in MINT condition, with only 15000 original miles on it. We now go to “Cruise In’s” and “Coffee and Cars”, and have won a 3rd place award in our first competition at a county fair. We are very much looking forward to our next classic car, maybe one even older then the ’78. I look forward to sharing fun stories with everyone. Thanks for reading our story.

Beautiful car! What drive in are you talking about in NY. I remember the Green Acres one. I saw Jaws there in 1977 or so.

Like the red, like the correct whitewalls, like your story–and welcome! I’ve never been without at least one Cadillac since 1972! Speaking of the long snouts–I drove my Mom from the desert up Big Bear Mountain in my 1969 Eldo (red with white top!)……..at every sharp curve, the nose seemed to extend out into space! Mom sure got her exercise that day–crying out for me to be careful (every time!) and leaning as far inward as she could (to keep the car from going over the edge?)!

Thank you. They are fun to drive. Very much “A Land Yacht”. You don’t feel much of the road, it just sort of floats above it. I love when you go fast, how the engine has a roar, (I think all Cadillac’s do, and it gets low and lean, and just goes…Its an amazing feeling. My husband thinks I have a bit of a lead foot. I just love the way it feels when you can let it loose. We took a trip to Arizona in the 1996. We rented a 96 Fleetwood. On the way to the Grand Canyon, we let her rip. You couldn’t tell how fast you were going it was so smooth. We were of course doing about 110 mph. Thank goodness no cops around. Would have gotten a ticket for sure. LOL

Hi,
Thanks, we love this car. We used to go to Babylon, Westbury, Copiague, and a few others on Long Island. We also went to a few of them in New Jersey. Rte 3, Summerville, Livingston, etc. Unfortunately , here in Atlanta there are no drive ins at all. Thanks for your reply.

Beautiful automobile.
In 1978, I bought one new as a gift to my wife. It was white with a white upholstery .
She sold it 4 years later, and we still miss it as it had 10.000 miles.
She like the lines that follow the classical design with a long hood and a short back lid.
