2013 Cadillac ATS Sedan

By Vinny O'Hare

This has been a fun week at the New York Auto Show. I hope you are enjoying the coverage as much as I am enjoying bringing it to you. This week has been a nice break from posting about classic Cadillacs like our site usually has. Today I want to bring you some pictures from my favorite car at the show the 2013 Cadillac ATS. You can see the specs for the ATS on our page from the other day that has the silver ATS pictures on it. Today I want to bring you the red one.

Cadillac has not announced the 2013 Cadillac ATS price yet but I am sure it will be any day now since they just released the price of the Cadillac XTS during the show. I can totally see this car flying off the Cadillac Dealers lots. It is slightly smaller than the CTS and I like that. When I first glanced at this car from far away I was wondering what it was even though I kind of knew it already since it was in the middle of the Cadillac display. The 3.6 liter engine will have plenty of power and I am sure this thing just cuts through the wind and will provide the smooth ride that the CTS is known for.

While I was there everyone that stopped by asked the nice Cadillac rep when it was coming out with a V8. I don’t see it happening but if Cadillac was to make this a V model and a convertible I would run to the dealer and buy one. It would make a perfect affordable replacement for the XLR or the Allante. Of course that is just my observation.

    Vinny,
First I would have to try one on before considering adding one to the collection. You know my feelings about the loss of my beloved DTS – and I have tried a CTS and found it too confining to be a serious contender for my bulk. Surprisingly the Allante is quite comfortabe and handles my girth well. I will admit I rather drive it with the top down as the top up causes me to have to duck down just a bit. I can’t see anything replacing the Allante – the grandson that it is earmarked for in my will would never forgive me.
Thanks again for the coverage, I look forward to each new installment. Did you say you plan on having video coverage next year – that would be great!

I think before we are said and done one of us will own an ATS. I am sure the grandson wouldn’t mind getting one either lol.

It takes a lot to impress me when it comes to new cars but this one got me.

I took a few small videos but I didn’t realize that I could bring a cameraman with me and do professional videos. I have good access to the Cadillac reps and since this was my first year I didn’t know what to expect.

I do like the colour though, Vinny

The color really stood out. I wanted to take the car home with me.

The car will be “taken seriously” by buyers and that’s all that really counts. Believe it or not, real buyers don’t care about comparison tests. Many people will simply buy this car because it’s the cheapest cadillac, not because they think it can be “taken seriously” compared to the 3 series. Most people who buy stripper 328is don’t even know anything about cars, they just leased the cheapest BMW the company offers, period. If automakers only cared about the press they receive by IL or Car & Driver, than every company outside of Honda, Mazda and BMW would be out of business.
