Resorts World Car Show Pictures: 1954 Cadillac

By Vinny O'Hare

This Tuesday I made sure my camera was on the right settings when I went to the car show. With rain in the forecast for the afternoon a lot of cars decided that they would stay home but we were still at 75% when it came to the lot being full. This week the stars of the show were a 1954 Cadillac, 1964 Cadillac and a 1960 Cadillac which we saw last year at the Forest Park show. I spoke in length to the guy that owned this 1954 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. He has a few Cadillacs and he will be taking a different one to the show each week so I can take pictures. All the pictures from the show are in my Smugmug account under car photos. If you click on the link and hit slideshow you can see all the cars in high quality and even be able to purchase them if you wish. I have been using Smugmug since our printers sunk during the Hurricane.

The 1964 Cadillac was a beauty also and very clean. I didn’t get a chance to talk to the owner but the car is a regular at the show so I will try next week. It was really beautiful with the sun setting behind it.

I have been learning how to make movies using iMovie. It is quite easy to do once you get the hang of it. I just wish I had some good music to put in as the slides are playing. If you like the video let me know in the comments. If you want to see the videos I put up I suggest you subscribe to the YouTube channel. I took a few others with the iPad from the show but they didn’t come out full screen.

Let me know how you like the video?

Resorts World Car Show New York City

By Vinny O'Hare

On Tuesday night I attended a car show put on by the East Coast Car Association at Resorts World Casino here in Queens NY. The show is about 5 miles from our house and it is a weekly show put on by some good people. The club raises money all year long and gives it to the children’s hospital at the end of the year. You may remember I went to the show a few years ago in Forest Park.

They have many cars from all over NY that come in for their shows and the spot at the new casino here is perfect for it as they have a separate parking lot that is a great place to show cars. There are cars from all types and years. Although there were only a few Cadillacs at this show it was great. If you are in the area and you want to come to a car show it is every Tuesday night from 5-9pm. They have a food court in the casino that is a good place to get a bite to eat also.

My camera was not on the right setting and all the pictures came out grainy. I converted them to HDR to spice them up a little. I have been getting into HDR photography and cars come out looking great. Next week the pictures will be better. I taught myself iMovie and put all the pictures in a slideshow video. Let me know if you like this format!

You can also see the pictures in our Flickr account.

I filmed 3 or 4 videos while I was there with my iPad. You can see them on our Cadillac Forum One is of a 1993 Cadillac Allante.

Don Butler Leaving Cadillac

I was really sad to see my friend Don Butler leaving his position of Cadillac vice president of global strategic development. I sat and talked with Don at the NY auto show and we had a really good conversation about Cadillac and where it was heading. We sat and talked about the ATS and XTS for a while. Really enjoyed our conversation. Good luck to him and thank you for all you did with Cadillac.

Back in NYC

For those that have been following my journey with the hurricane damage I am back in NYC and finishing the house. Hard to believe it has been almost 10 months since we lost everything. Your support in emails have helped us get through a tough time. I appreciate that more than you will ever know. I am going to make sure that if something like this happens to anyone in the club we can help. While I have everyones email address I don’t have a home address. That is going to change and will be totally voluntary. I will set up a form and maybe call it VIP members or something.

Cadillac RV’s

By Vinny O'Hare

I just got an email from the show “Rock my RV” that stars Brett Michaels from the band Poisin. If you haven’t seen it the show is pretty good. Well as good as a show about RV’s can be. Since I have been in Arizona all I have been hearing and seeing is about RV’s. We are actually thinking about renting one to get us and our stuff back to NYC, but I doubt we will since its super expensive for one way rentals.

Anyway this weeks episode of Rock my RV will be featuring a “Cadillac Themed” RV makeover (Whatever that is?). You may want to check it out. It is on the travel channel on Sunday night at 9pm EST. I will be watching. The email got me thinking about Cadillacs and RV’s. I was surprised when I did a google search for that term that I got so many results as Cadillac and RV’s are not something you hear about everyday.

It seems that a lot of people either cut up their Cadillacs to make an RV or there was a few coach builders back in the day that actually converted Cadillacs into an RV. This one is more of a camper but you will see what I mean. Like this one below that I found on the Hemmings blog. Big V-8 motor in there to help get up hills it sounds like the perfect combo.

Cadillac Won’t Be Making The Cadillac Ciel or ATS Convertible

I am sad to report that Cadillac has killed off the idea of making the Cadillac Ciel concept car that so many of us loved when we first reported it. I am guessing the car would be too expensive and put it way out of the price range of the common people. When I first saw it I fell in love with it as most did here in the club. Will the Ciel come back as something else like the Converj did? We can only hope so.

In the same announcement we also found out that Cadillac won’t be building the ATS into a convertible either. This is something that I am personally sad about. I am still holding out hope that they may change their mind as the years go by. If they don’t do it I may have to make one myself.
