This Cadillac has been all over the news reports this week. I really get a kick out of the way this Cadillac looks from behind. I can’t imagine what drivers are thinking when they get behind this Cadillac. I am sure this wouldn’t pass many emission test. I am glad to see people thinking outside the box though.
Iowa Man’s Cadillac Burns Wood To Burn RubberWhen Herb Hartman wants to fuel up his prized 1991 Cadillac, he heads to the chopping block, not the gas station. Hartman, a retired machinist in Woodward, Iowa, has attached a so-called gasifier to the back of the car that turns lumber into gas. …

1940 Cadillac Auction
Have some spare change laying around? You may want to empty the cookie jar and buy this beauty. It may be sold by the time you read this though.
1940 Cadillac Series 75 Convertible Sedan At Mecum | GM AuthorityIf you were filthy rich in 1940, this would be your car. When Cadillac was “Standard of the World,” it built cars like this convertible sedan. It was a bodystyle that was falling out of favor by the advent of World War II, so cars like this 1940 Cadillac Series 75 that is being auctioned at Mecum’s Seattle 2014 event June 13-14 have been a top collectible for years.

Cadillac Engines from 1980’s
I found this question and answer some of the best information about a 3 year period that wasn’t exactly great 3 years when it comes to Cadillac engines. Do you agree with this?
Car Collector Corner: Cadillac’s ‘Trinity of Trouble’ – Sports – Daily ReviewQ: Hi Greg. I really enjoy your answers to reader’s questions, so I’m throwing my two cents in. I know you like Cadillacs and that you’ve owned a few yourself. How about telling us when you feel were the worst years for Cadillac during your years, be it sales or development? I had a 1971 Cadillac back in the day, but it was a used one. Barry L., Rochester, N.Y.

Cadillac Tow Trucks
It seems like the first Cadillac tow truck information we had on the site may be a little off. After reading this article it seems that Cadillac tow trucks may have been a little different than we think.
Ernest Holmes, a Cadillac, and the invention of the tow truck | Hemmings DailyWhile perusing a recent issue of the Caddie Chronicle, the newsletter of the Potomac Region of the Cadillac La Salle Club, we came across the interesting tidbit that the first tow truck was not built atop some heavy-duty truck chassis, as one would expect, but atop a 1913 Cadillac.

Cadillac Pictures
Something really cool happened this week. Most of you don’t know but my day job is working with websites to get them better in the search engines. A few weeks ago I changed some things on the site to try to get the site to do better for the term “Picture of Cadillac”.
I was surprised when I looked at the search term the other day and noticed Pauls 1959 Cadillac as the very first picture. His “Margie” is being seen by people all over the world. Pretty cool stuff.
Thats it for our newsletter for this week. Are you guys liking the new format? Leave me a comment below and let me know. If you ever have any news you want to share end me an email and I will share it with everyone.

Hi Vinny
Weird to see a car in modern times with a wood or coal burner at the stern. Idea goes back to WW2. Have seen several photos including a German KDF (the VW Beetle) photo’ed during the war with similar devices. Was very common in Europe both during and immediately after the war, esp the UK, where gas (and most other essentials) were rationed well into the mid 1950’s. In our local auto museum, there is a “42 Nash with a woodburner attached to it, which is rare for South Africa, where fuel was restricted during WW2, but not as severely as Europe.

Hi
Forgot to add that, according to my dad who was a kid in the old West Germany of the 1950’s , people used to run their old diesel Mercedes 180/190’s on heating fluid and refined cooking oil. Apparently was illegal and the dwang hit the fan big time if the Politzei stopped your Merc and checked the fuel tank, which they did regularly!
Ponton Merc diesels became very popular, I would imagine!
I believe there is someone in the UK who has recently revived the idea of using the old oil from his fries to run his auto!
