Our 100th Post on Cadillacs

I just noticed that we have broken a little milestone – This is the 100th post that I have sent out to our club. It seems like yesterday that I started this site but I guess time has flown by. Out of the 100 post I would probably figure 90 of them were from members with helpful suggestions and with pictures of their Cadillacs and such. For that I am grateful.

Cadillac Record Breaking Parade

This event is quickly coming up and I just wanted to send a little reminder out about it again. We have at least 2 members bringing their Cadillac that I know of. I am still not sure if I will be attending so if you do go please take some pictures. The record breaking attempt was even covered in the New York Times yesterday. I am really pulling for them to break the record. If you are planning on going leave a comment on this post so maybe you can meet other members of the club.

What Are Dagmars?

The other day in an email a member asked me what Dagmars are. This caught me by surprise but the more I think about it since our site has a big international readership it may just be a term that we use in the United States. Back in the early 1950’s when tail fins were getting bigger so was the front bumper.

On the bumper there were usually two “Dagmars” on it. They were the bulb like things that stuck out and also resembled a woman’s breast. They were nicknamed Dagmars after an actress of the day that was known for having large breast. For more information on this I send you over to Wikipedia. What are Dagmars?

New Look Here

I had my friend Leslie from Lesrubadesigns expand the banner to make it wider to cover the whole header. The old banner size showed a lot of white around it and to tell you the truth it has been bothering me for a long time. Thanks Leslie it looks great.

Our Next Newsletter

In the next few days I plan on sending another newsletter as our friend Earle just sent me some new pictures of his Cadillac and it sure is sharp. You may remember Earle from his 1978 flower car. Well the flower car has a new companion. I will try to get the newsletter out with pictures in a day or so. I have been slacking with newsletters lately.

Cadillac Weekend Update

I missed posting on Wednesday but that is ok since a lot of our readers are on vacation it won’t be missed that much. This gives me the chance to send out an email on a Friday instead. I thought I would find some cool car links for some weekend reading and see if you guys like it. For those new here I try to send out a newsletter on Wednesday and Sunday.

First off I have to take my hat off to you guys. I swear we have the best Cadillac fans in the world. Many people from all over the world chimed in on What year is this Cadillac thread that Michael asked me to post. When he sent the first email I had no idea it would get this much traction. I am humbled by the amount of knowledge our club has. I did some checking and would you believe that post was seen by people in over 93 countries. That to me is amazing, I wish I could shake all your hands 🙂

July 4th Car Shows

This weekend I have a car show that is almost nearby so I may take it in. I didn’t see any Cadillacs on the menu so I may bail at the last minute. If anyone is nearby you should try to make it. It looks like fun. It is in Port Jefferson and should be a good time. Leave a comment below if you are going to be there and maybe we can say hello.

I was just reading a cool article on Kiplingers.com It highlights the best cars for long road trips. I found it quite amusing that no Cadillac made their list but they have some funny comments. You should check it out. One I really disagree with is the Mustang V6 convertible. I would rather cruise in a Cadillac XLR with the top down.

Cadillac Upgrading their Showrooms

I have posted about this before but this article on how dealers are sprucing up their showrooms. It looks like all dealers are doing this and I can’t blame them. People want to see modern showrooms when they are spending their money. Speaking of dealers, if you are familiar with your local Cadillac dealer you should let them know that they can post their Cadillacs for sale on the forum. I always liked helping people find the Cadillacs they want so if giving the dealers a space on the forum will help that then I am all for it. If you have a Cadillac for sale you can also list it there.

Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept Video

Well I have been busy the last few days reading Road Hogs and editing videos from the New York Auto show. I know most of our readers like the Classic Cadillacs but this one is too cool not to share and I hope it comes into production soon.

The Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept car has a few things I like, mainly the size since I live in New York City. It is tough to park in the city and this could squeeze right into spots you couldn’t put your 1970 Cadillac.
