Cadillac is Building the ATS

This is usually about vintage and classic Cadillacs but when Cadillac makes a big announcement I like to pass it on. Cadillac announced today that they are spending $190 million dollars to produce a new line of Cadillac which is to compete with the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

They will spend the money building up the plant in Lansing Michigan and adding over 600 jobs by adding a second shift in a part of the country that can really use the economic lift.

The new line is officially nameless but people who follow the automakers are saying the name will be the ATS. It will be smaller then the CTS and it is a big risk since the last time anyone remembers Cadillac building small it was the Cimarron. Although the Cimarron has a loyal base of users that love them it has been called a flop in automaker circles.

The Cadillac ATS could be in showrooms in mid 2012. That’s about all the details that have been announced and I look forward to welcoming a new line of Cadillacs for future generations to enjoy.

2010 Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon

Yesterday I had the pleasure of going to the New York Auto Show. They had 10 or 11 new Cadillac’s including the new sport wagon. Below you can see a quick video with all the details. The nice lady explained all the features.

New Cadillac’s and Old Cadillac’s

When I write these updates I always have to keep aware that we have many readers with many different agendas. Some like to see vintage Cadillac’s and some are signed up because they just bought the latest Cadillac. I try to give everyone what they want. With that said lets get see what is happening this week.

The new Cadillac’s are a hit. When I first heard about the new Cadillac CTS sport wagon the first thing that came to my mind is “WHY” but after seeing all the reports I can understand why. Families have to adjust their driving needs and these new Cadillac’s are perfect for the dad who wants some power in his car and the mom who needs the family car to be practical for the family. They interview Interior Designer Christine Park who explains all about the features of this beauty. I love the built in DVD players in the rear seats.
