Ever since Earle bought his Cadillac Allante we have been exchanging emails about a movie with a flying Allante in it. He finally found the movie but I found the part that shows the Allante in the air. It is from a Charlie Sheen movie called Terminal Velocity. The movie wasn’t that great but this scene is.
I hope you enjoy it. Leave a comment!

That’s it Vinny. I don’t have enough experience with the Allante yet to quickly determine the year of the car. Since the movie came out in 94, I’m guessing it was a 93 – the latest model at the time. That aside, that could be my car, red with black interior. Thanks for locating the clip. That is what always comes to mind when someone refers to the “Flying Cadillac” nickname of the Allante.
Great job, thanks.

Your welcome, Thanks for letting me know about the movie. I am not familiar with identifying Allantes but I am sure we can break down what year it is. My guess would be the same as yours. I will go try and figure out what year it is.

Hi Again Vinny,
I rolled through the car part of the clip one second at a time and allowing for Hollywood’s penchant for changing facts to suit their requirements, I can say the seats are different from my 92 and my trunk release is not out in the open. It is a button inside the center console storage box. I’m also hard pressed to understand how that trunk release broke off like that, Cadillac makes its cars much better than that. Maybe we are supposed to believe that one of those last minute shots the villan got off as he was falling away was a lucky, or would it be unlucky shot and it severed the cable. Yeah, that must be how it happened.

I think Hollywood was playing with us and that wasn’t the truck release at all. I think it was the mechanism that puts up the convertible top that he pulled and they just want us to believe it was a trunk release. The Allantes are so much alike it is hard to figure it out.
I also went frame by frame lol.

thank you vinny, that was cute.the allante was the casuality in the movie !!

Hi Guys, it may be a 1987, you can tell by the large headrest. The trunk release is in the center console. not on the floor as shown. its not a 90 to 92 because it does not have a air bag. They even put on a different boot cover the covers the top. if you look closely, its flat where it was contored over the top. And If i know my Allantes, it was painted red because there were no 1987 red ones till 1988 unless they installed 1987 headrest in a 88 and if so, then its a 1988. and ill bet my Allante on it.

Hi John
Thanks for that detailed comment. I was hoping someone more familiar than me to Allantes would chime in. I was just on your website and I like it. Maybe we can exchange links or something?
Earle says
Thanks for coming to our rescue John. (Vinny- John is an expert when it comes to Allantes, I would trust every comment he has about our little trip down Hollywood memory lane.)
I knew it could not be a 92 from the bits I picked out, but the rest is first rate observation, thanks again.
Did anyone catch the smoking tire shot when Charlie was supposed to be backing out of the plane? The car is front wheel drive and I am sure I can see the wheels spinning forward and the back tires getting covered by the smoke. Nit picky I know, but I am still having fun with this clip.
Earle says
I just went back and watched again – I see what John said about the back rest, and I think I see what he means about the cover for the top, but I completely missed the air bag being MIA. In fact I don’t see how he saw enough of the steering wheel to pick that up. Guess experience counts – – a lot.
I also like the WWII dive bomber sound effects when the car is falling and Charlie is moving to the trunk for the rescue of the love interest.
I am going to use this clip, Vinny, when the winter gets long and I want to be reminded of what will be, I hope, a summer full of fun in the sun – – not skydiving you understand.
