Since I have made the post about our house getting destroyed during the Hurricane I have been blown away by the amount of emails. Like I have said before when I started this club I have never thought about the reaction that people have had when they read the newsletters. The outpouring has been incredible to say the least.
Now that I am back home from Arizona it is time to start the rebuilding process. I took a bunch of photos of the house and as you will it is in pretty bad shape. There is talk of raising all the houses 10 feet or so in the air so rebuilding now may lead to cracked walls later but they can be fixed easier than building new ones.
Here is a set of Pictures of the house. We got some insurance money but not enough to put the house back the way it was. Who knew you also needed contents insurance inside flood insurance?
Once again thanks for your support and the wonderful emails I have received.

as a resident of va.beach we,re on the northern end of hurricane alley,so to speak.vinny i,m so very sorry to see the kind of damage you sustained during hurricane sandy.i don,t want to sound dumb, why do they want to raise your house 10 feet to rebuild your home.and i thought flood insurance covered your contents of your home or your homeowners policy should cover the contents ? brian

Thanks Richard! It will just be a matter of time before it is all rebuilt.
Brian – Your homeowners content policy doesn’t cover contents that were lost due to flood. We got $0 from our homeowners policy because we didn’t have any exterior damage at all from the flood.
Flood insurance also has contents coverage but you have to ask for it. I thought having flood insurance was good enough but it isn’t. Open up your flood insurance policy and you will see it doesn’t have content coverage.
