While we are out having a good time this weekend we must remember to give thanks to our Armed Forces for keeping us and the World a better place. The picture above was taken last week during a visit to Sedona Arizona. We took a little trip down Route 66 and had a great time.
I knew the Cadillac above would be my Memorial Day weekend post as soon as I saw it. It was taken in Slide Rock Park in Oak Creek Canyon. You may have heard about it on the news because the wild fires. The spot that this Cadillac is sitting in is now the staging area for the firetrucks. Very sad indeed.
When I saw the license plate I knew I had to stop and take a picture of it.
I know many of our members have served and I would like to take the time to say Thank You.
Route 66 Trip
Last week we took a little trip from where we are staying in Queen Creek Arizona up to Sedona Arizona. We stayed there for a few days then took a tour of Monument Valley which is in Southern Utah. We passed through Flagstaff and was on Route 66. The area is beautiful and looked like the 1950’s. If you ever plan to take a trip on Route 66 you need to make sure Flagstaff is part of the trip.
The day before we left Sedona I ran into a bunch of bikers when I was out taking pictures of the town. Of course this city boy had to go up and find out what they were doing. Turns out it was a group of British Wounded Warriors taking a motorcycle trip from San Diego to Colorado and back on Route 66. They were being lead on the tour by an American Wounded Warrior. Needless to say my Brooklyn accent had them all laughing. I felt really proud as they were telling me their stories.
They were well prepared and had a Hertz moving truck as a support truck and a extended van in case anyone got tired of riding. I wish I had a contact for them. Maybe one of you in England can find them and let them know about this post. I would appreciate it.
Next post will have some pictures of Route 66.
