Well it looks like winter is finally over here in the United States, it really didn’t feel like going away. Pretty soon summer will be upon us and they’ll be more people out cruising in their Cadillacs.
I have been playing with the idea of putting a forum on the website for a long time. What has been holding me back is I’m not sure people will use it. It takes a lot of work to maintain the forum and I am not sure that I have the time. What I need to do is find a good couple of people who want to be moderators. Finding these people is not easy, if you have moderated a forum before and think you can handle the job let me know.
If I get enough interest I will put the forum on the site. I think I may do it anyway because of it will be easier for people to upload their own pictures, have their own photo gallery and be able to tell about their Cadillacs without me having to upload a page.
I’ve been getting a lot of e-mails lately of people looking to sell their Cadillacs. By opening the forum it will give people a place to buy and sell Cadillacs with minimal involvement from me. This past week alone I’ve got five e-mails from people looking to sell their Cadillac. I would like to help these people as I’ve been doing for the last 10 years but it’s just become very time consuming.
Getting a forum to the website will make it feel more like a club, which is what I wanted to attain in the first place. Right now our e-mail newsletter goes out to all of 123 countries and people really enjoyed it. Every time I send out a newsletter, I get 25 to 50 replies back. Some people leave comments but mostly it’s people asking for parts, and where they can find them. Opening the forum for this would help our readers help each other.
The new forum software that I’ve been looking at is kind of expensive but I think it will be well worth it. I want to hear what you think? Either send me back a reply saying yes or leave it in the comments on this page.

Yes, a forum would be nice. I picked up a 1974 eldorado conv, whould like to know anyone with info on were to get the body and meck work done on it. In and around the Chicago area. The guys all what to work on it, but to expensive for me. Yes, looking for a little cheaper, not looking to put it back in the show room.

Yes…I think it would “flesh out” the site a bit and make it have a bit more practical value for those who visit it for whatever reason. You never know what is out there and available unless there is a forum to inform. Even if one is not looking for any particular auto, you never know when something comes up to get your interest.

Vinny,
There are gobs of cadillac forums for answers to questions on fixes, etc.
Perhaps you would serve all of us Cadillac lovers best by allowing Buy/Sell from individuals only. Hemmings and eBay are good starting points “For Sale” Cadillacs. Perhaps you could be the one that has “Wanted” parts or cars?
Your site has a unique read and more is not neccessarily better. Keep doing the good work.

I think a forum would be a nice addition to your already great site. I’m guessing it will do very well.

Thanks for the answers all, between here, facebook and email I think its about 60 yes and 1 no. I will be setting up the forum and I am open to all suggestions. I want this to be a good community, where people can upload pics of their Cadillacs too.
Kavash that is a good idea and it will be part of the forum. I will also incorporate Ebay and Craigslist also.

Ok all here is a link to our NEW Cadillac forum. I stayed up until 3am and It is still a learning process to learn the software. I will probably send out a newsletter to everyone tomorrow. Feel free to join and make some post so it doesn’t look so empty.
